Luca Vitone, whose work has been recently seen at the 55th Venice Biennale 2013 (Italian Pavilion and Latin American Pavilion), talks about the development of his research.
“I would say that my present work is the result of the development of my analytical research, which has naturally evolved. Twenty-five years ago, I had the desire to annihilate the image and I was working with photocopies in black and white. I went further on this path, with the metaphors of places, places of our being, of our living, places that we inhabit. For some years I used cartography to tell about these existential loss in orientation that my generation went through in the 80s. A loss that may also have emerged on aesthetic and political levels, in what I called my Carte Atopiche (Atopic Maps).”

Luca Vitone, il cui lavoro è stato recentemente esposto alla 55. Biennale di Venezia 2013 (al Padiglione Italia e al Padiglione Italo-Latino Americano), parla dello sviluppo della sua ricerca artistica.
“Il mio lavoro è il risultato dello sviluppo della mia ricerca analitica che si è evoluta naturalmente, come si evolve la vita. Venticinque anni fa, avevo il desiderio di annientare l’immagine, lavoravo con fotocopie in bianco e nero. Sono andato avanti su questo percorso, con la metafora dei luoghi, dei luoghi del nostro essere, del nostro vivere, del nostro abitare. Per qualche anno ho usato la cartografia per raccontare questa perdita esistenziale di orientamenti che la mia generazione ha vissuto con gli anni ’80. Una perdita che, anche a livello estetico e politico, è sfociata in quelle che io chiamavo Carte Atopiche.”
